Waving goodbye to the weather from Richard Sheldon.
I’m sure you will all join me in waving goodbye to February! The relentless rain made it a struggle for us to do even the most basic of tasks on the course, so, unfortunately, course presentation and quality did go backwards a from what we’d achieved throughout January. We were still busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for the season ahead, and with the positive forecast for this week and next, I’m hoping we’ll be out in force getting everything back in order. As well as getting everything cut we’ll be feeding the greens and tees over the next couple of weeks to give them a boost and start thickening up the sward. Following that we’ll be moving onto spraying fairways, so all being well, the improvement in course quality and presentation should accelerate over the next few weeks.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone for their patience during this extremely wet period. I’ll always do my best to keep the course open with trolleys and buggies out but this isn’t always possible or safe. I like nothing more than seeing the course full of golfers reaping the rewards of all our hard work and can’t wait for warmer, drier weather so this can be achieved.
