Chris Wiggins Cup

Just a reminder for our members that the deadline to enter the Chris Wiggins Cup is this Sunday. The draw will be done on Monday.

Gala Presentation Evening - Friday 29th November

Booking is now open for this very popular event. The cost is £39.50 per person and you can book individually, small groups or tables of 8.

If you book a table, can you please check with your guests that no-one else has also booked a table? I had a lot of problems last year with more than 1 person booking for the same group and having tables left last minute although I had turned people away!

The evening will be a similar pattern to last year with the return of the fabulous SOUL JUNCTION (by popular request). We have a superb menu and, of course, the prizegiving! The Hotel will be dressed in its Christmas Finery and will look amazing. We will commence with a drinks reception from 18.15 onwards, call to dinner at 18.50 with Dinner commencing at 19.00 prompt.

We have reserved limited accommodation which will be allocated on a first-come basis.

Pettersen’s perfect closure

The Solheim Cup had us glued to the TV over the weekend and in an ending that came close to matching the miracle in Medinah, Europe’s ladies sealed the win with the final putt of the contest - talk about going down to the wire.

The USA needed to reach 14 points to retain the Solheim Cup and with 13.5 points on the board and still two matches in play at A/S, it looked likely that USA captain Juli Inkster would be heading back across the pond with the trophy strapped into first class.

However, Bronte Law and Suzann Pettersen had other ideas. Once Law had secured a 2&1 victory on the 17th green, the overall scores were tied on 13.5 apiece with the final match A/S on the 18th. Only winning the hole would do for Pettersen and Europe, and she duly obliged by sinking a pressure birdie putt to send Gleneagles into raptures.

It's a simple question

Telling you that Titleist's Pro V1 franchise is the number one ball in golf is like teaching your grandmother to suck eggs - we already know. But with two very impressive models to choose from, how do you know whether you're a Pro V1 or a Pro V1x player? Well, let's find out...

First things first, these two golf balls get improved upon every two years. Instead of resting on their laurels, Titleist brings out new models that continually offer the golfer something extra. So, if you ever see new packaging or a different style box, it means it's a new golf ball inside - just a heads up!

So, Pro V1 or Pro V1x?

Well, the new 2019 versions both provide more ball speed off the face (that equals more distance), lower long game spin (again, for more distance) whilst offering incredible control around the greens.

If you opt for the Pro V1, you'll be following in the footsteps of Paul Casey and Adam Scott by enjoying a mid-flight trajectory and a very soft feel off the face. However, if you choose the Pro V1x like Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood, you'll get a higher trajectory and a slightly firmer ball.

A warmer option

As we begin the inevitable slide to Christmas (yes, I said it), it's time to ditch the shorts for some warmer layers. Fortunately, we have a range of mid-layers and jackets available through us that will keep you warm and dry whilst successfully battling the elements this winter.
