Head Greenkeepers Report August 29th 2018 Hello to all members and guests,
I hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekend apart from the wash out we had on Sunday. Sunday alone we had 21mm of rain fall which saw the course closing early afternoon.
This week’s weather is looking promising will sunny spells and no rain cast.
With the bank holiday setting me back a day this week and the Junior Open which we held on Tuesday 28th August, we have had to set our bunker renovations back for a week. Monday we are hiring a digger for the full week to carry on with bunker work around the greens.
This week’s work will consist of plenty of mowing and general maintenance because of the fast growth in areas around the course. Divoting tees has been completed so can I ask you all to please continue to repair your divots on the tees with the divot boxes. Thanks!
Tee’s and worn areas will be receiving a sprinkle of granular fertilizer to help growth going into the winter months.
Football pitch will be cut and marked with two games scheduled this week.
Irrigation pumps are nearly completed with one remaining pump being fully installed this week. I hope you are all continuing to enjoy your golf at The Welcombe golf club. On behalf of myself and the greenkeeping team we would like to thank you all for your continued support.
Many Thanks Billy Hayes Head greenkeeper.
