Alzheimers Research Many of you will remember Sunday, 13 August for Martins Captains Day. WGC member Keith Lazenby remembers it for a different reason! He was riding the Great Shakespeare 100 km bike ride around the Cotswolds, raising funds for Alzheimers. His target was to break four hours for the ride. The 9.00am start from Walton Hall saw Keith starting at the back of the 281 riders, and having to weave his way through as they set off on the closed road from Walton to the Fosse Way, where it then became easier to get some speed up. With companions Mark and Andy, the hills around Tysoe, Hook Norton and the Rollrights came and went without too much difficulty. Once the mighty Larkstoke was conquered it was a relatively easy fast final 14 miles back to Walton Hall and through the finish gate in 50th place in a time of 3 hours 49 minutes. Success!
Thanks again to all WGC members who have helped Keith and Mark raise £490 for Alzheimers. If anyone wants to nudge the figure over £500 then please go to the Justgiving site and search for keithlazenby1. Thanks again from Keith. Cheers, Keith. |
