Pro Am

The Welcombe Golf Club Pro-Am - Wednesday, 28 June 2017

We need another five to ten teams for the event to be a great success. The Welcombe Pro-am has been the golf clubs most prestigious event for the past nine years. The cost is £85 per person and is a 11am shot gun start. Teams are made up of three amateurs and one professional which the PGA will provide. The event will include breakfast on arrival, complimentary golf range usage, buffet dinner presentation. I have also managed to secure an amateur prize table worth over £1500. If you are interested in entering a team, please let me know as soon as possible.

Rules section

Scoring a Two In Competition

If you enter the two in a competition, as a club rule you can still claim your prize even if you N/R.

N/R Competition

It is a club rule that all members who enter into a competition, must enter their scorecards into our handicap computer and enter their signed scorecard into the scorecard box following completions of play.

Water Hazard On The 17th Hole

If your ball finishes in the water on the 17th hole you have four options:

  • Option 1 - Drop the ball in the drop zone regardless of where the ball has finished in the hazard.
  • Option 2 - Drop the ball within two club lengths of the point of entry either side of the hazard no nearer the hole.
  • Option 3 - Drop the ball keeping the point of entry in line with the flag, no near the hole.
  • Option 4 - Play your third shot off the tee.

Please click here if you have any further questions regarding any of these rules.

Members news

County Fees

There are still several members who have not paid their County Fee of £20 for 2017. Please be aware if you pay your membership on Direct Debit, you will need to pay the fee in the shop separately. If you are unsure if you have paid this fee, please check with the pro shop, I will leave a list of names with them.

Members Invitation Date Change Of Date and Format

This will now to be hosted on Saturday, 16 September. I propose we make this event a shotgun start with tea, coffee and bacon roll's on arrival, an 18 hole better ball with a two course dinner to follow.

After receiving fantastic support in all our club competitions so far this year, the members Invitation event will be a great way to showcase our golf club to guests and potential new members of the club.

Keith Lazenby

This Sunday, 4 June saw member Keith Lazenby straining his legs, lungs and head to raise funds for Parkinsons, by riding a 43 mile blaze route. It started and finished at Stratford upon Avon racecourse, but it had really tested Keith's lungs and mental capacity when grinding his way up Campden Hill out of Ilmington. Keith Completed the course in an amazing time of 2 hours 36 minutes the fastest on the day, hitting speeds of up to 46mph.

The price of a Welcombe Golf Club coffee or pint as a donation will all help the cause. Donations can be made to Just giving (www.justgiving.com/fundraising/KeithLazenby) or on a sponsor form on the noticeboard. Thanks for any donations to a worthy cause, Keith.
