The scratch team will be playing a friendly match vs local rivals Stratford on Avon Golf Club on Thursday away.
Seniors Get Their Season Underway With a Win
On Wednesday, 3 May the Welcombe Seniors section opened their season with a resounding victory over Copt Heath away. They won by four and a half to one and a half, which was a great start to the campaign and one which demonstrates how well Welcombe handicaps travel. Their course was in terrific condition and we particularly enjoyed the way the tees were 'dressed' with shrubs and flower beds. However, there is no doubt that our own course this year is going to be very hard to beat in terms of both the condition it is in and the challenge it presents.
On Wednesday, 10 May the Seniors held their Captain's 'Away Day' at the Hellidon Lakes Golf Club and again enjoyed a very attractive and interesting course. Though surprisingly short, overall the design of the holes in a very hilly area, which requires a sound course management, a skill not everyone seemed to possess.
Keith Lazenby with a fine win shooting 38 points, followed in second place by Gordon Reid with 35 points and Rob Day in third place with 34 points. However, a good time was had by all and the golf was followed by an excellent meal and a few glasses of vino.
It was a delight to all of us there that Martin Myall (Seniors Captain ) who had set up the day, but is suffering from severe back problems, was able to get to the club to see us come in and have a drink with us. We wish him well on his road to recovery. In his absence Joe Harvey (07778650275) will be captaining the Seniors until Martin is better with the invaluable support of John Keeley.
Can anyone who is a senior and is not yet on our email list or general radar, please contact either one of us (or the pro shop), so we can include you in the matches and societies planned for the rest of the year, details of which you can find in club calendar.

Custom Fitting Is Getting Busy
In the last week we have fitted: three full Titleist/TaylorMade sets, one SM6 Vokey Design wedge fitting and finally done two loft and lie checks for Simon Whitehead, plus a hotel guest. The check/adjustment of clubs is £3.50 per club. A fitting costs £20 and if you purchase the clubs from us is costs nothing!
